LEBANON BOROUGH SCHOOL DISTRICT’S

TEACHER EVALUATION SYSTEM, SY 2014-2015

Introduction

As part of federal requirements for states receiving funding under Phase 2 of the State Fiscal

Stabilization Funds Program, all school districts in New Jersey are providing information to the public on the procedures they use to evaluate teachers. The information presented below will help you understand the Lebanon Borough School District’s policies and procedures for evaluating teachers.

Description of the Teacher Evaluation System

The Lebanon Borough School District will be employing an evaluation model based on the New Jersey Professional Standards for Teachers in conjunction with The Kim Marshall model which comprises six domains of teacher effectiveness. They include: Planning and Preparation for Learning, Classroom Management, Delivery of Instruction, Monitoring Assessment and Follow up, Family and Community Outreach, and Professional Responsibilities. This model is in line with the Educator Evaluation for New Jersey (EE4NJ) criteria established by the State of New Jersey. The process involves formal and informal observations which includes: pre and post observation meetings, a review of the teacher’s lesson plans and assignments, a review of the teacher’s progress toward completion of the Professional Development Plan and professional development hours.

The process affords the opportunity for teacher recognition, planning professional development that supports growth, the formation of the individual professional development plan, making recommendations for continued employment and tenure decisions. Tenured teachers are evaluated at least twice a year while non-tenured teachers are evaluated at least four times a year. Consistent with the district’s values, every staff member is committed to providing all students with the ability and tools to achieve his or her greatest potential.
